Misi Roti is a traditional Indian flatbread that's a healthy, whole-grain staple of everyday meals. This simple vegetarian bread is low in calories and the perfect family dinner accompaniment to any curry.
In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, besan, salt, turmeric, red chili powder, and cumin seeds.
Add the chopped onion, cilantro, and green chili. Mix well to distribute the vegetables and herbs evenly.
Gradually add water, kneading to form a soft, pliable dough; rest the dough covered for 10 minutes to hydrate.
Divide the dough into 6 equal balls. Flatten each into a disc and roll out to 5-6 inch circles, dusting with flour to prevent sticking.
Heat a cast-iron skillet or tawa over medium-high. Place a roti on the hot skillet; cook for 1–2 minutes, flip, then brush lightly with ghee or oil. Press gently and cook both sides until golden spots appear. Repeat for all rotis.
