Tender Swedish meatball appetizers in a creamy sauce are a high protein, family-favorite party bite. These savory, comforting meatballs are perfect for holiday entertaining.
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Finely chop the yellow onion. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onion in 1 tbsp butter until soft and translucent, about 4 minutes; allow to cool before mixing.
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, cooled onion, breadcrumbs, eggs, salt, pepper, allspice, and nutmeg. Mix gently by hand until evenly combined without overworking.
Shape mixture into 1-inch meatballs and arrange on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 18–20 minutes, turning halfway, until browned and cooked through.
In a clean skillet, melt remaining butter over medium heat. Add baked meatballs. Pour in beef broth and heavy cream, stirring and simmering gently for 6–8 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the meatballs.
