Sometimes a snack is just a hard-boiled egg. Peeled, maybe some salt, eaten standing up in the kitchen. Low calorie, high protein, zero pretense.
Place the large eggs in a single layer at the bottom of a saucepan.
Pour enough cold water into the pan to cover the eggs by at least 1 inch.
Set the heat to medium-high and bring the water to a gentle boil.
Once the water starts boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer the eggs for exactly 10 minutes.
Transfer eggs immediately to a bowl of ice water and let them cool for at least 5 minutes before peeling and seasoning with salt.
