Chole Tikki is a robust Indian chickpea dish packed with plant-based protein and fiber. This healthy vegetarian preparation supports weight loss, PCOS diet goals, and makes a satisfying family meal.
In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked chickpeas and boiled potatoes. Mash them thoroughly until mostly smooth with a few chunks remaining for texture.
Add chopped onion, green chili, cilantro, breadcrumbs, and all spices (garam masala, cumin, amchur, red chili powder, and salt). Mix well until evenly incorporated.
Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each into flat round patties about 3 inches wide, pressing gently to hold their shape.
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat. When oil is shimmering, place tikki patties gently into the pan without overcrowding. Fry each side for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crisp, controlling the heat to prevent burning.
Transfer crisped tikkis to a paper towel-lined plate. Repeat with remaining patties, adding more oil as needed. Serve hot as is, or atop chole (chickpea curry) with garnish.
