Enjoy the wholesome comfort of Mudda Pappu, a traditional Indian lentil preparation rich in plant-based protein. This fiber-packed vegetarian dish supports weight loss, PCOS diet goals, and is a family dinner essential.
Rinse 1 cup split yellow lentils (toor dal) thoroughly in cold water until the water runs clear.
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed lentils and 3 cups water. Add 0.5 tsp turmeric powder.
Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer, partially covered, for 25–30 minutes until the lentils are soft and cooked through.
Remove from heat and mash the cooked lentils with the back of a spoon until creamy, adjusting the texture to your liking.
Stir in 1 tsp salt and 1 tbsp ghee. Gently mix and serve hot. If desired, finish with additional ghee for a richer flavor.
