Sweet red dates and goji berries (wolfberries) steep into a nourishing, warming tea-like broth. This vegetarian family tonic is a caffeine-free wellness drink believed to nourish blood and improve complexion.
Rinse the dried red dates thoroughly, then slice them in half to expose the pits and remove if desired—this helps the flavor infuse the tea.
Rinse the dried goji berries under cold water and set aside for later use.
In a medium pot, combine the red dates and 5 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Once boiling, reduce to a gentle simmer and cook uncovered for 20 minutes to extract the sweetness and color.
Add in the goji berries and rock sugar. Simmer for another 10 minutes, stirring gently to dissolve the sugar, then remove from heat and serve warm.
