Beef steaks simmered in a robust tomato, garlic, and oregano sauce from Naples. This high protein mediterranean family dinner is a fresh, carnivore-friendly dish that's ready in 30 minutes.
Pat beef sirloin steaks dry and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers, then add the steaks. Sear for 2 minutes per side to develop a rich crust; remove and set aside.
Reduce heat to medium, add smashed garlic cloves to the skillet, and sauté until fragrant but not browned, about 1 minute.
Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes to meld the flavors and slightly reduce the sauce.
Return the steaks to the skillet, cover, and cook at medium-low heat for 8–10 minutes until beef is just cooked through and tender. Serve hot, spooning plenty of sauce over each steak.
