Seared tuna steak cooked rare on a hot griddle, Italian-style. This high protein mediterranean dish is a fresh, healthy family dinner perfect for keto, dash, or weight loss meal plans.
Pat tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Drizzle 1 tbsp of olive oil and rub both sides with sea salt and black pepper.
Preheat a cast iron griddle or heavy skillet over high heat until just smoking (about 3-4 minutes for optimal searing).
Place the tuna steaks on the hot griddle. Sear for 1½–2 minutes on the first side without moving to develop a crisp, golden crust.
Flip steaks using a thin metal spatula. Sear second side for 1–2 minutes more for rare center, adjusting time for thickness. Remove to plate to prevent overcooking.
Rest the tuna steaks for 2 minutes. Slice and serve with a drizzle of remaining 1 tbsp olive oil, a squeeze of fresh lemon, chopped parsley, and optionally over a bed of arugula and cherry tomatoes.
