Pan-seared pork chops served with homemade applesauce is a timeless American family dinner. This protein-rich dish balances savory and sweet flavors beautifully for a wholesome meal.
Pat pork chops dry and season both sides evenly with 1 tsp salt and 0.5 tsp black pepper. Let rest at room temperature for 10 minutes.
Peel, core, and chop the apples into small chunks. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp butter.
Add the apples, 1 tbsp sugar, 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon, and 2 tsp lemon juice to the saucepan. Cook on medium-low, stirring often, until apples are very soft and saucy, about 15 minutes.
While applesauce cooks, heat 1 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking. Add the pork chops.
Sear the pork chops 3–4 minutes per side, adjusting the heat if browned too quickly, until internal temperature reaches 145°F and juices run clear. Rest chops off heat for 5 minutes before serving with warm applesauce.
