Crispy, spiced, and utterly delicious, Bread Pakora Breakfast is a classic Indian snack loved across the country. This vegetarian favorite is perfect for family snack time, parties, and festive occasions.
Prepare the filling by heating a nonstick skillet over medium heat, then add onions and cumin seeds; sauté until onions are translucent.
Stir in mashed potato, green peas, salt, turmeric, chili powder, garam masala, green chili, and cilantro. Mix and cook until peas are soft and mixture is aromatic, about 3–4 minutes. Let cool.
Trim bread slices if desired. Place 2–3 tablespoons of filling onto one bread slice, cover with another, and press edges lightly to seal. Repeat for all slices.
In a bowl, whisk gram flour with 3/4 cup water, salt, and a pinch of turmeric to form a thick, lump-free batter.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (medium-high). Dip each stuffed bread in batter to coat thoroughly, then gently slide into the hot oil.
Fry pakoras in batches, carefully turning with slotted spoon for even coloring. Maintain consistent oil temperature; cook 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crisp.
Remove bread pakoras and drain on a wire rack or paper towels. Serve hot with chutney or ketchup, garnished with extra cilantro.
