Shortcrust tart filled with Nutella is an irresistible Italian indulgence. This modern mediterranean dessert is a family favorite that's impossibly easy to make.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and butter a 9-inch tart pan.
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, lemon zest, and salt. Cut in the cold butter with a pastry cutter until the mixture forms pea-sized crumbs.
Add the eggs and vanilla extract, then mix until the dough just comes together; do not overmix for tender texture.
Wrap 1/3 of the dough in plastic and chill; press the rest evenly into the tart pan, including the sides, taking care not to compress the dough too densely.
Spread Nutella evenly over the crust with an offset spatula, stopping 1/4 inch from the edge.
Roll out the reserved dough and cut into strips; arrange in a lattice over the Nutella filling. Trim excess dough and lightly press ends to adhere.
Bake for 30–35 minutes on the center rack until the crust is lightly golden. Cool completely before slicing to allow the filling to set.
