Crispy, spiced, and utterly delicious, Bread Pakora is a classic Indian snack loved across the country. This vegetarian favorite is perfect for family snack time, parties, and festive occasions.
Boil the potatoes until fork-tender, peel, and mash them while still warm for smoother texture.
Mix the boiled potatoes with chopped green chili, cilantro, turmeric, red chili powder, amchur, half the salt, and garam masala. Set aside the seasoned filling.
In a separate bowl, combine besan, remaining salt, and enough water (add gradually) to make a thick, lump-free batter. Whisk until smooth for even coating.
Take a slice of bread, spread a generous amount of the seasoned potato filling on one side, and top with another bread slice to make a sandwich. Cut each sandwich diagonally into two triangles.
Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat until a small drop of batter sizzles on contact. Dip each sandwich triangle fully into the besan batter, ensuring it’s coated on all sides.
Carefully slide the battered triangles into the hot oil. Fry in small batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crisp on all sides—about 3–4 minutes per batch.
Remove the bread pakoras from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite chutney.
