Pop edamame from the pod with sesame salt for a snack that's genuinely fun to eat. Plant-based protein, satisfying texture, Japanese izakaya vibes.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat. Add a generous pinch of kosher salt to the water.
Add the edamame pods to the boiling water and cook for 4–5 minutes until bright green and just tender. Do not overcook to avoid mushy texture.
Drain well and immediately transfer the hot pods into a large bowl.
Drizzle with sesame oil while still hot, then add the kosher salt and toasted sesame seeds. Toss thoroughly to coat every pod.
Transfer edamame to a serving bowl. Serve warm, letting guests pop the beans out of the pods, enjoying the sesame salt clinging to the skin.
