Sticky rice and tender pork ribs are steamed together until the rice absorbs all the meaty juices. This protein-packed family dish has a satisfying chewy texture and deep savory flavor.
Rinse the glutinous rice thoroughly and soak it in cold water for at least 2 hours to ensure chewy, glossy grains after steaming.
Slice the shiitake mushrooms, scallions, and ginger. Cut pork ribs into bite-sized pieces and pat dry with paper towels.
In a mixing bowl, combine the pork ribs with soy sauce, oyster sauce, Shaoxing wine, white pepper, sugar, salt, and half the sesame oil. Marinate for 30 minutes for deep flavor absorption.
Drain the soaked rice well. Gently toss the rice with the marinated pork ribs, sliced mushrooms, ginger, and scallions in a large bowl, ensuring every grain is coated and evenly distributed.
Transfer the mixture to a heatproof dish. Steam over medium-high heat for 60–75 minutes, checking halfway to redistribute for even cooking. Drizzle the remaining sesame oil before serving for aromatic finish.
