Keema matar is a comforting minced meat and pea curry spiced with garam masala and fresh ginger. This high protein dish is great for meal prep, freezer-friendly, and fits a 1500 calorie plan.
Heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the diced onions and sauté until golden and fragrant, about 5–7 minutes.
Add minced ginger and garlic. Stir continuously for 1–2 minutes to prevent burning and unlock the aromatics.
Add ground beef and increase to high heat. Break up the meat with a spoon and cook until browned and most moisture has evaporated, about 8 minutes.
Stir in garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, chili powder, salt, and black pepper, mixing thoroughly to coat the beef.
Add chopped tomatoes, reduce heat to medium, and simmer uncovered for 8–10 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken and the flavors to blend.
Stir in the frozen green peas and cook for another 3–4 minutes, just until the peas are heated through but still bright.
Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve hot with your choice of naan or rice, or allow to cool for meal prep and freezing.
