Wendy's launched three watermelon drinks and the Watermelon Lemonade is the star! Fresh watermelon flavor mixes with tart lemonade for this perfectly refreshing spring sipper. It tastes like summer in a cup — not too sweet, not artificial, just crisp and fruity. I've been back twice already for this drink.
Cube the fresh watermelon and measure out 3 cups. Add to a blender with 1 cup cold water.
Blend on high until completely smooth. Strain mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher to remove all pulp for a crisp, juicy flavor (Wendy's technique: straining gives a clean, refreshing finish that matches their clear lemonade drinks).
Add fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and the remaining 1 cup cold water to the pitcher. Stir well.
Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more simple syrup, if desired. Add a pinch of fine sea salt to enhance the watermelon and lemon flavors (Wendy's technique: a touch of salt balances tartness and brings out natural fruit flavors).
Chill for at least 30 minutes. To serve, fill glasses with ice and pour over the Watermelon Lemonade. Garnish with a small watermelon wedge or lemon slice if desired.
